Today I-49 has removed the heavy traffic from US 71 to the point that the old highway is lightly traveled. It has been named the “Boston Mountains Scenic Byway” Now it is a wonderful stretch of winding highway and part of what I have dubbed the ‘Wild Hog Loop.’ Highlights of this ride: University of Arkansas, home of the Razorbacks… The Boston Mountains Scenic Byway… Devil’ss Den State Park… Canehill, home to the largest collection of buildings on the National Register in Arkansas and home to the restored Canehill College, the first college in Arkansas, founded in 1834.
