Named Prison Break on Hwy 5 because you ride by Lansing Correctional Facility then take 73 to Leavenworth Federal Prison. In Kansas City KS exit Hwy 435 to Hwy 5 and head north to Leavenworth. One of the rare opportunities to experience sharp curves and elevation changes in the land of OZ. Other notable sights along the way are Lakeside Speedway, Leavenworth National Cemetery and Fort Leavenworth.
An added bonus: Take Hwy 7 to the Nebraska border which is also scenic. Be sure to stop at Wild Bill’s in Rulo, NE (listed under bar, restaurant) for a cold drink and good food.
