Bishop Castle is a oddity found in the rocky mountains along Highway 165 in Rye, CO 8106912 about miles in. The Castle is the creation of Jim Bishop who stated work in the 60s and is still to this day is continually working on his creation every day. The castle stands about 160 feet tall and with homemade stairs you can climb to the top for an exceptional view!. The castle is truly a work of art and is visited by 1000s of people every year and has been featured on the Travel Channel, CNN, Readers Digest, and Trip Advisor. Many of the visitors are on bikes but beware as the pull off to the castle is dirt and gravel directly off HY 165 and traffic can get congested at the entrance. The visit to the Castle is free but donations are always welcome. My personal favorite part of visiting the castle is the ride through the mountainous, sharp, curved roads. There are several ways to end up and leave from the castle but listed is my favorite rout as there are a few great restaurant options (Favorite is Tony’s Mountain Pizza at 630 Main Street Silver Cliff, CO 81252), and ending at the Outpost Harley Davidson in Pueblo CO.
