One of the best in the west!

4.0/ 5

Made this trip in early September 2018, on a perfect 65 degree day, started with coffee, supplies and fuel fill up Red Lodge, Montana. Had a chat with some locals and they suggested that we call ahead to make sure that the pass was open the locals heard that they might of had some snow. Ranger said come on thru only a dusting and it’s melting. Two Harley dressers take off and the two lane road was smooth and in great condition with magnificent views of mountains and valleys with a rushing river along the road all the way to the pass. At the pass the temperature was a lot cooler and you have to watch the road as there are some sharp corners to navigate, pull off rest area at the pass with great views and yes we walked a ways and made snow angels with a half hearted snowball fight. continued the ride with more outstanding views and riding to Yellowstone Park. Rated 4 stars and not 5 stars because the ride is only 2 hours in length and you wish for more, and would recommend that riders with some experience make the trip as the scenery can distract you in some switchback sections, be safe and enjoy.
