Part of the ride is through a small community/neighborhood, dangerous road, not that great of a ride with lots of gravel in the corners. I will say it’s curvy in parts and no shoulder or guard railing on much of the road. In my opinion doesn’t live up to the hype for the kind of riding I like to do.

Hands down one of the best roads to ride in WNC. Road is well kept on the NC side with some awesome picnic areas, camping, hiking trails and scenic overlooks with amazing views!

I have always loathed TOTD but it seems the more I ride this road the more I can appreciate how hard and technical of a road it is. Extremely curvy with many roadside photography distractions if you let them be.

Amazing views and decent road with many tunnels but you will also experience amazing amounts of traffic on this road. If you have never ridden it then I guess it’s something you should do but the traffic is horrid.

One of my all time favorite roads to ride in WNC, it can be heavy with traffic and the speed limit is low but the views are so worth it.
